An Oakville native, "Zee" graduated from Oakville Trafalgar High School and headed for a career in football at the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles.

At UCLA, Zee was a two time NCAA All American in 1967 and 1969 as a kicker. He set over a dozen UCLA kicking records, and was named to the UCLA all-century team as a punter. This was an exceptional honour, considering the lengthy history of great UCLA football.

Zee was drafted in 1970 by the NFL Dallas Cowboys which started a pro football career as a kicker that spanned 16 years. Returning to Canada, he played with the Toronto Argonauts from 1971 to 1977, and again from 1980 to 1982.

In 1978, he kicked for the NFL Kansas City Chiefs, and in 1979, the CFL Hamilton Tiger-Cats. In 1983, the United States Football League was formed, and Zee joined the Tampa Bay Bandits, where he played through the 1985 season. In 1984, he was named "Special Team Player of the Year" for the USFL. Zee finished his football career in 1986, playing with the Montreal Alouettes.

Over his lengthly career, Zee scored over 1300 points, 300 field goals, and a life-time punting average of 44.1 yards per kick. He is credited with the longest punt in pro football history - 108 yards ... while playing for Toronto in 1977.

Zee continued his interest in football after retirement, by coaching kickers at various high school, college, and pro training camps.

Author of numerous articles and books on football, Zee is an ordained Baptist minister, and serves as an area director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Zee lives in Tampa, Florida, with his wife Sue, where they are involved in many sports and civic activities.
