3 Ontario most valuable player awards

Michele was chosen several times to play for Canada on the Women's National Team.

In 1987 and 1989 she was awarded 'Most valuable player' status for the Canadian National Women's Tour Team.

In 2002, Michele was player/coach, as the Oakville Storm won both the Ontario and Canadian Women's Championships.

In 2005, she was again player/coach, as the Oakville Panthers won the "World Women's Masters Championship".

Coach Houchen is one of a very few women who have earned a 'B' licence designation from the Canadian Soccer Association. In one of her first coaching assignments, her U-18 team captured a silver medal in the 2002 Canadian championships. That year she was also named coach of the year by the Ontario Youth Soccer League.

In 2004, Coach Houchen was named Assistant Coach of the Ontario Provincial Team's Soccer Program. Her team won the gold medal for Ontario at the National All-Star Championship.

As a development director with the Oakville Soccer Club, she mentors fellow coaches, as well as scouting and training the best young talent in Oakville.

Benefitting from great coaching, some of Oakville's women soccer players have made their way to American college scholarships and to the Canadian National Women's Team.

Michele Houchen, a superb athlete and coach, who is passionate about her game, and continues to give back to the Oakville Soccer Community.
